Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur
The Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur was established in the year 1992 under the provisions of the Manipur Higher Secondary Act, 1992 ( Manipur Act 4 of 1992). Prior to the establishment of the Council, the +2 courses in the state were conducted by the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur as Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate course in the Higher Secondary Schools and Pre-University course by the Manipur University in the College.
But, with the establishment of the Council the +2 courses of the Board of Secondary Education, Manipur and Manipur University were taken over and amalgamated into Higher Secondary course under the Council of Higher Secondary Education, Manipur. The Council conducted the Higher Secondary Examination, 1993 as its first public examination in the state.
Reduced Syllabus 30 Percent:-
The courses of studies of the Council includes 52 different subjects under the Academic Stream-viz.
30 Percent Reduced Syllabus and Question Design for Classes XI and XII specially for the Academic Session 2020-2021.
The subjects under the Academic Stream are under 3(three) Groups of studies-(a) Arts, (b) Science and (c) Commerce; and each Trade under the Vocational Stream has three papers of the Trade to be taught in each class, i.e. paper I, II & III in Class XI and paper – IV, V & VI in Class XII. A student of Vocational Stream shall offer- (I) English, (2) MIL, (3) One Vocational Trade and (4) One more subject having no practical paper from the academic stream as additional subject.
MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTIONS AND EXAMINATIONS:
The medium of instructions and examinations for all subjects except language subjects, Music, Manipuri Dance and Thang-Ta shall be in English. For language subjects, the medium shall be the concerned language, for Music, the medium shall be Manipuri/Hindi/English, for Manipuri Dance, the medium shall be Manipuri/English and for Thang-Ta the medium shall be in Manipuri.
SCHEME OF EXAMINATIONS
NAME OF EXAMINATIONS :
(a) Class XI Examination : The examination conducted after a regular course of studies for not less than one academic year in Class-XI in a recognised institution under the Council shall be called “Class-XI Examination”.
(b) Higher Secondary Examination : The examination conducted after a regular course of studies for not less than one academic year in Class-XII in a recognised institution under the Council shall be called “Higher Secondary Examination”.
