EligibilityCriteria for AFCAT 01/2016:

01. Flying Branch (201/17F/SSC/M/W)

Age: 20 to 24 years as on 01st Jan 2017 (born between 02nd January 1993 to 01st January 1997) both dates inclusive. Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (Indian) is relaxable upto 26 years (born between 02nd January 1991 to 01st January 1997) both dates inclusive

(b) Educational Qualifications: Graduates (minimum 3 years degree course) in any discipline from a recognized university who have attained minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level or B.E./B.Tech degree (4 year course) from a recognized university with minimum 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together

Candidates who have failed the Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible to apply

02. Technical Branch (200/17T/PC/M, 200/17T/SSC/M&W Courses)

Age: 20 to 26 years as on 01st January 2017 (born between 02nd January 1991 to 01st January 1997) both dates inclusive

Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) AE (L): Candidates applying for AE (L) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognized university or cleared Sections A and B examination of Associate membership examination of the institute of electronics and telecommunication engineers by actual studies

All candidates applying for AE (L) branch should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together

Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) AE (M): Candidates applying for AE (M) branch would be eligible if they have undergone a minimum of four year degree qualification from a recognized university or cleared Section A and B examination of

Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies

All candidates applying for AE (M) branch should have scored a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate in all papers put together

03. Ground Duty Branch (200/17G/PC/M and 200/17G/SSC/M&W Courses)

Age: 20 to 26 years as on 01st January 2017 i.e. born between 02nd January 1991 to 01st January 1997 (both dates inclusive)

Administration and Logistics: Graduate Degree (Minimum three year degree course) in any disciplines with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all papers put together or a Post Graduate Degree/equivalent Diploma in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together

Accounts: Graduate Degree in Commerce (B.Com) (Minimum three year degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate of all papers put together or Post Graduate Degree in Commerce (M.Com) /CA/ICWA with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together

Education: Post Graduate Degree in any discipline with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together

Physical Standards

i) Height and Weight: Minimum height – Men & Femal 157.5 Cms with correlated weight

ii) All other medical criteria would be evaluated by the Air Force Medical Authorites whose decision on the fitness would be final

Type of Commission

Permanent Comission: Candidates joins as Permananet Commission (PC) officers would continue to serve fit the age of superannuation

i) Short Service Comission: The Engagement period for SSC Flying Branch is 14 years from the date of Commissioning (Not extendable)

ii) The initial tenure for Short Service Commission officers in Technical and Ground Duty Branches would be for a period of ten years

Selection Procedure

All applicants whose application have been submitted by due date will be called for Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) to be conducted on 21st February 2016 (Sunday) at one of the examination centres mentioned below
Candidates will be required to login to their candidates login account regularly for information on AFCAT and AFSB testing. The entrance test will be of two hours duration and will contain multiple choice questions on verbal ability, numerical ability, reasoning, general awareness and military aptitude. Sample question paper and syllabus of AFCAT is available on IAF career website www.careerairforce.nic.in

EKT would be for 45 minutes and conducted immediately after AFCAT

Candidates who are short-listed on the basis of Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) will be called for further testing at one of the Air Force Selection Board (AFSBs) at Dehradun, Mysore, Gandhinagar, Varanasi or Kancharapara
The testing would consist of three stages as given below:

(a) Stage-I: Test consisting of Intelligence Test along with other tests will be conducted on the first day. Stage-I test is a screening test and only those who qualify would undergo subsequent testing

All State-I qualified candidates would be subjected to document check to ascertain their eligibility for the branches applied for. Those candidates who either do not qualify in State-I testing or do not meet the required eligibility criteria would be sent back on the first day itself

(b) State-II: Testing consisting of Psychological test, Group Test and Interview will be conducted on subsequent days (Five Days)

(c) For Flying Branch: CPSS (Computerlist Piloty Selection System) and Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) would be administered to eligible candidates

Change of Interview Dates: Request for change of SSB interview date should be avoided. However, as an exception, such change may be considered based on the circumstances of the case. Request for such change should be forwarded to the respective AFSB from where the call letter for SSB Interview has been received and not to Air Headquarters/AFCAT Cell. The AFSBs may consider change of date at the their discretion

Medical Examination will be conducted at AFCME, New Delhi or IAM Bengaluru based on the recommendations at AFSB

Candidates recommended by the AFSBs and declared medically fit will be detailed for training in the order of all India Merit list depending the number of vacancies available in various branches/sub branches. Grant of PC/SSC in Technical and

Ground Duty Branches would be based on number of vacancies, performance in the selection process and the choice given by the candidate/Airmen

10% of the vacancies are reserved for NCC Air Wing ‘C’ certificate holders in Technical and Ground Duty Branches. Onus of meeting the eligibility criteria rest with the applicant

Paper Pattern:

The AFCAT will be of two hours duration and will contain multiple choice questions on verbal ability, numerical ability, reasoning general awareness and military aptitude

Pay and Allowances

Fyling Offiercer will be entitled to Pay in Pay Band of Rs 15,600-39,100 per month along with Grade Pay, Military Service, Deaness Allowance, Kit Maintenance Allowance, Transport Allowance

In Addition, other allowances are applicable based on nature of duty/place of posting and would include Flying Allowance, Technical Allowance, Field Area Allowance, Special Compensatory (Hill area) Allowance, Special Force Allowance, Siachin Allowance, Island Special Duty Allowance, Test Pilot and Flight Test Engineer Allowance, Hard Area Allowance and Remote Locality Allowance

On successful completion of Traning, the newly Commissioned Flying Officers would be entitled to approximate gross montly emoluments in different branches including Transport Allowance of major cities as follows:

a) Flying Branch – Rs 80,238/-
b) Technical Branch – Rs 69,238/-
c) Ground Duty Branches – Rs 66,738/-
